As a boy, George Bailey dreamed of becoming an explorer. As he prepares to leave the small town of Bedford Falls to travel and study, the sudden death of his father forces young George Bailey to take over the family business, which provides decent housing for the poorest of the poor. But the business is threatened by Potter, a powerful and unscrupulous man who owns half the town and will stop at nothing to make it disappear. Just when he thought he had finally saved the business, his Uncle Billy misplaces a large sum of money that is vital to its survival and, on Christmas Eve, George, desperate and cornered, prepares to throw himself off a bridge. But then heaven sends Clarence, an angel, to help him out of his predicament in order to earn his wings…
