After studying at Henri IV (Paris V) during which he met his future partner Sébastien Azzopardi, Sacha Danino turned to philosophy (Sorbonne, Paris IV) as well as art history and cultural engineering (ICART Paris – Institut des Carrières Artistiques). He completed his training by joining the ICCOM (Institute of Culture, Communication and Management). Subsequently, he turned to journalism to become an editor in the economic press (Le Distributeur Automobile) and institutional (La Revue parlementaire). And it was during the year 2006 that his childhood friend, long engaged as an actor and director, asked him to adapt with him the famous novel by Jules Verne Around the World in 80 Days. Piqued by curiosity, he accepted. It was then their first success since the play was performed for more than fifteen years (2006-2020). This began a long and close collaboration between the two friends.
Sacha Danino and Sébastien Azzopardi are behind L’embarras du choix, premiered in October 2020 at the Théâtre de la Gaîté Montparnasse and still running in 2025. The play is launching an international career. The creative duo is also behind Chapitre XIII, a theatrical thriller that won the Best Visual Creation Award at the 2019 Molière Awards; La dame blanche, which received three Molière nominations in 2016, including Best Director of a Private Theater Show; Coup de théâtre(s), premiered at the Théâtre de la Gaîté Montparnasse in June 2014; and Mission Florimont, nominated for the 2010 Molière Awards in the Best Comedy Play category and which will be revived in June 2025 at the Théâtre de la Gaîté Montparnasse.
In 2011, they adapted the cult American play, Shear Madness by Marilyn Abrams and Bruce Jordan, based on Paul Pörtner’s novel, under the title Dernier coup de ciseaux (The Scissor Cut). The play premiered at the Théâtre des Mathurins and, like The Spoilt for Choice, Mission Florimont, and Around the World in 80 Days, enjoyed exceptional longevity. It received the 2014 Molière Award in the “Best Comedy” category and has been performed more than 3,800 times to date. They also adapted Robert Askins’ Oh My God, which was performed at the Théâtre Tristan Bernard in 2017.
Finally, Sacha Danino is the author of Sacha contre Guitry (tout contre), which premiered at the Théâtre Michel, directed by Ned Grujic, in 2023.
